Clergy News

Dear Friends, It is the end of August, 11.25pm and I am feeling like my lawn, dried out and in need of refreshment. I am not complaining about the heat (it will not last forever) and it has been wonderful to be out of doors, to see and hear children in the Parks, Playgrounds and Gardens. Soon, all too soon, we will be drawing the curtains earlier, sorting out the heating in homes, places of work and enjoying (we hope) the new system in our Church. There is one day left of the Holiday Club; what a wonderful week we have had, but all things must come to an end to make way for something new. My refreshment is close at hand (no, not the larder or fridge). It is in the certain knowledge that God is at my side offering me water from the Fountain of Life, the comforting and strengthening presence of His Son Jesus Christ. Of course, I know He is always there, but I perhaps am often so preoccupied that I forget to acknowledge Him. A card I often carry says: 'If I am so busy today Lord that I forget you, please do not forget me'. I do not need the card to remind me that He will remember, and watch over all I do, but perhaps just sometimes the card is a reminder to ME about HIM. If talking to Him is difficult, if the words for prayer won't come, don't worry, enjoy the space and the silence; then quietly from the heart say the words Our Saviour taught us that begin: Our Father……, then welcome the refreshment that comes in knowing that you have been heard. Love and blessings, Rev'd Rosemary * * * * * On Saturday 13th September the annual Diocesan Bike ride takes place. This is also our Patronal Festival weekend. I no longer ride a bicycle, but I would seek your sponsorship for my being in our Church all day, signing in cyclists, greeting visitors and being generally but quietly obvious. The funds raised in sponsorship are shared between the Beds. & Herts. Historical Churches and our own Parish Church. Rev'd Rosemary
