Hertingfordbury Parish News: October 2002

The Hertingfordbury Preservation Society

We are appealing to all concerned residents of the Parish to support the Society in its opposition to a plan for gravel extraction from Farm Fields, the area between the River Lea and the B158 (Lower Hatfield Road) running from Water Hall to St Mary's Lane. The matter is down for decision in the Spring of 2003 and the Society has already written to the Planning Directorate setting out its objections and hopes that it can count on your support. If you are new to the Parish of Hertingfordbury, or perhaps not so new, you may not know of the Hertingfordbury Preservation Society. Formed in 1964 at the start of the village bypass project, it continues to serve the villages of Hertingfordbury, Cole Green, Letty Green, Pipers Green, Birch Green, Staines Green and East End Green. Its object is to protect and preserve the character and amenities of the villages for the public generally but especially for us, the residents. The Committee meets regularly to consider planning proposals and any matters which may affect the well-being of the locality. The Society has always been well supported and welcomes all residents to its AGM, normally held in mid-May, and the informality of the occasion allows easy discussion of anything of mutual interest.
