Hertingfordbury Parish News: April 2003
Romanian Convey 2000
I plan to return to work in Romania again this June 2003. I sadly missed last year for various reasons. I am a professional dressmaker and we hope to set up an upholstery/sewing workshop for 14-18 year old orphans in the hope it will help them gain employment when they finally leave the orphanage. We are lucky enough to be taking some industrial sewing machines with us, but we need sewing aids including materials, accessories, measuring tapes, scissors, cottons, pins, needles, dressmaking and other patterns. Other projects my colleagues are hoping to tackle include: (a) a playroom for boys and girls with a table tennis table, snooker table, backgammon, rummy and football games; (b) a hairdressing salon, which is up and running, but is terribly short of materials such as shampoo, conditioning mousse, hair gel, hand cream, rubber gloves and the like; (c) a children's outdoor play area for 3-6 year olds, and (d) a carpentry workshop, which is also up and running, but is short of tools and materials such as locks for doors, desks, paint guns, fine file sets and carpentry measuring tapes. For more information we do have a web site: www.convoy2000@amwellrotary,org.uk Our destination this year is: The Special Vocation School, Cluj-Napoca, Romania. I would be most grateful if anybody could help me raise funds personally for this trip which be in the region of £600. Thank you for reading this appeal.
