Hertingfordbury Parish News: December 2008

Notice Board

After eight years we have finally received Planning Permission from the local authority to build a Parish Room and Lavatory.  The local authority have also held us up for over a year.  English Heritage are not in favour of our plans, but have said that they can find no good reason why they should turn them down!  They have been very reluctant to give permission for us to access the room from the church. Now however, the plans have been passed and we must now apply for a Faculty from the Diocese.  The Diocese has given their consent, so we hope that this will not be contentious.  The letter giving permission arrived with 21 points to be considered, which for those not up to speed on planning law were rather horrific, but it is now learnt that it is actually quite normal.  We have 3 years in which to start building otherwise planning permission is withdrawn.  So on with the good work!!  We are now in a position when we can apply for grants, which, if we can achieve money from elsewhere, will definitely help our cause.
