Hertingfordbury Parish News: April 2004

Hertingfordbury Women's Insitute

Our guest speaker in February was Dr Patricia Last. Her talk on 'Facts and Fallacies of Medicine' was received with much interest. Doreen Vigus, one of our 'more mature' members recently celebrated 60 years of membership of our W.I. As a result she was a guest speaker in the W.I. slot on Chiltern Radio. Doreen spoke of the changes she had seen during her long and very active membership.

Apart from the Parish of Hertingfordbury, our membership is drawn from a wide area including Welwyn Garden City and Hertford. Visitors are welcome to sample our meetings, after which they often decide to join us! Have you ever thought you would like to do a short course on the history of parish churches, or the history of London Docklands, or log cabin patchwork, or the life story of Gilbert and Sullivan? Well – if you were a W.I. member these courses and many more would be available to you at our very own Denman College.

Next Meeting: 20th April when the speaker will be Mr Anthony Pearce whose talk will be 'Trials and tribulations of a family business'.

Joan Wheatley
