Hertingfordbury Parish News: February 2003
Hertingfordbury Preservation Society
Update on Farm Fields Appeal You may remember that SW Environmental applied to extract gravel from the field by the Lower Hatfield Road, which the company have called Farm Fields. The area would then be turned into lakes, including a fishing lake. This application was turned down by Hertfordshire County Council last February and the company appealed later in the year. This means that there will be a Public Enquiry. The Enquiry will start on June 3rd and will last about 3 weeks. We are working with the parish councils of Hertingfordbury, Little Berkhamsted and Bayford to produce a campaign to make sure that this appeal has little chance of success. In fact it has already been the subject of three appeals since the 1950s none of which were successful. If you would like to know more and become involved please let us know. It takes a lot of work to mount such a campaign and we would welcome any help and support you can offer. Please note: Although the Hertingfordbury Parish News is produced by St. Mary's PCC, the opinions expressed by contributors are not necessarily those of the PCC.
