Hertingfordbury Parish News: July 2002

Clergy Letter

Dear Friends, As you read this, I will be coming to the end of what I hope will have been an enjoyable and restful two weeks in Somerset. This break will have come at the right time following a hectic and happy June. At the beginning of course we had the Celebration of our Queen's Golden Jubilee; what a weekend we had with colour and competitions, fellowship and flags, fireworks and fun. On a personal note, the middle of June saw my husband and I at the marriage of our youngest son. In the Parish, we had three baptisms, and I'm happy to say the number of candidates for baptism is rising. One year on and the knee replacement is doing very nicely, God is in His Heaven and all is well. However, no room for complacency; after the holiday duty calls and my work continues here in our Parish: Holiday Club in August, Patronal Service in September, Harvest Festival in October, and the ongoing round of visiting, home communions, and school assemblies, all of which are part of my normal everyday Ministry. At this point I would like to draw your attention to the fact that not all ministry has a big 'M'. Each one of us has a part to play in the daily life of 'The Church'. For we are The Church, YOU are the Church, the PARISH is the Church, the building of St Mary's is a place to gather; and there the door is always open, the welcome always warm. New to the Parish or lived here for years, come and join us, or give me a ring if you would like a visit. There is no entry fee, no references to be taken up. Come and share that Peace that passes all understanding; the Peace that comes from our Heavenly Father. We have so much to be thankful for to Him who gave everything for us. All prayer and praise is good wherever it is offered, but to share with others is to enjoy a great Blessing. Happy holidays to all taking one, rest and re-creation to all at home or away. Love and Blessings, Rev'd Rosemary
