Clergy Letter
Dear Friends,
I didn't want a microwave, or a mobile 'phone, or a DVD player, and certainly not a computer. The microwave has become the saver of many interrupted meals; the mobile 'phone a means of keeping in touch when away from home, and the DVD player gives wonderful clarity of picture. The computer? It's off sick at the moment (having been attacked by a virus). Do I miss it? YES, it has become part of my everyday life. Today I am having to write this letter by hand, no real hardship, but I have to be extra careful about forming my letters so the person typing this for the magazine can read it.
So often in life we are in denial; we don't need or want help, people, to cry, talk to someone, share our innermost thoughts and fears. We don't need to go to Church, we don't believe in God or His Son Jesus Christ – so we have no need for them in our lives! I would so strongly disagree with everything on the above list. Because we are human we do not like to be thought weak, not be in control; it is NOT weakness to say, "Let go and let God," and God does not control – our freewill is still ours, but with His guidance the journey of life could be easier.
I can remember times when I felt deserted by God – it was devastating. When I realised it was my own blindness that was shutting Him out, I began to heal. If God's among your 'don't needs' – think again – Jesus said, "I will be with you always," and, "Come unto me all who are heavy laden and I will give you rest." The materialistic items at the beginning of this letter, I can do without; the Love and Presence of God through His Son, I cannot live without (and would not want to). A Salvation Army song I sang as a child runs: "Come into my heart Lord Jesus, there is room in my heart for Thee." Try saying it – follow it up – and join the host of people whose lives would be incomplete without Christian Fellowship – there is no substitute I promise you.
Love and blessings,
Rev'd Rosemary
