Clergy Letter
Dear Friends, As there is no magazine in January, I do hope it is not too late to wish you all a Happy New Year. As you read through the following pages (and I hope you read them all), you will see I have had quite a lot to say on a variety of subjects. So I will be deliberately keeping this letter fairly brief, as I do not wish to be accused of monopolising the Magazine. We are rapidly approaching the Season of Lent; a time of reflection and preparation, a time to look at our Spiritual lives and our response to God and His Church. When Jesus entered Jerusalem on what we call Palm Sunday, he was aware of the pain and suffering to come. As we enter this New Year, we follow the media reports of world problems and the threat of war looming. We must Pray that Peace will rule overall and the need for peace be the end result sought by World Leaders and Politicians. It is my prayer that my grandchildren will grow in a wholesome and dignified world, where people's opinions, hopes and fears can be expressed out loud without repercussions. I hope that is your prayer too. May I offer for your use a Collect taken from the ASB 'In time of Trouble'. Almighty God, you know us to be set in the midst of so many and great dangers, That, because of the frailty of our nature, we cannot always stand upright. Give us such strength and protection as may support us in all dangers and carry us through all temptations; Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen God bless you all, with love Rev'd RosemaryPlease note: Although the Hertingfordbury Parish News is produced by St. Mary's PCC, the opinions expressed by contributors are not necessarily those of the PCC.
