What We Do

The Parish Council has a number of powers that it can exercise if it so wishes. Below are some of the activities Hertingfordbury Parish Council currently monitors for the benefit of the community:

  • A consultee to all planning applications relating to the Parish of Hertingfordbury, and makes comments as appropriate to the District Council. Recent planning applications can be viewed on the East Hertfordshire District Council website.
  • Looks after the Grade II Listed War Memorial and bus shelters
  • Looks after and conserves the Village Green spaces and other woodland areas
  • Monitors public footpaths and bridleways
  • Provides Memorial seats and benches in the villages
  • Provides Notice Boards in each of the villages on which public notices are displayed
  • Provides a children's Play Area in Birch Green
  • Individual Parish Councillors have representation on several local liaison groups
